After years of planning and unavoidable building delays, the time has almost come for us to move in to the new building.
At this stage the move is scheduled to occur in December. We will send you an information sheet regarding this in the next month.
We are very excited about the move and look forward to seeing you all at the new building.
We have been very fortunate to recruit two wonderful Doctors from Scotland. Ewen and Suzie Bickner are a husband and wife team that will be joining our team in January 2013. We are very excited at the prospect of welcoming 2 enthusiastic and young Doctors to our well established team.
In addition we will continue to support the training of general practitioners. IN 2013 we will have 3 new registrars joining us.
So with an extra 90 appointments a day being available, we hope that we will be able to better service the requirements of our ever expanding patient base.
The skin clinic is very excited to announce that they will have a designated room in the new premises. This means that we will have a specialized room for skin checks and procedures.
We have purchased the most up to date equipment for skin checks and will be able to offer digital imaging to those that need or request it.

Each year we review our fees on November 1st.
This coincides with the release of the new Medicare rebate by the Federal government. Unfortunately, the Medicare rebate for most services that we provide is below the rate of inflation and does not come close to matching the every increasing costs associated with running a practice.
We continue to strive towards limiting our fee increases, while continuing to provide the highest possible level of medical care. Please find attached a copy of her new fees:

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Terri Blake as our new nurse manager. Having been at our practice for several years, Terri has stepped in to the role as nurse manager. WORK has started on a new Kalamunda Primary Care Centre next to the Kalamunda Hospital site.
Two weeks ago, the land for the centre was cleared and construction should start in three months.
The centre is being created by Mead Medical and has been privately funded through Medfin Finance after the project was rejected for Federal funding.
Mead Medical is the oldest established medical group in the Kalamunda Shire and this new centre will take it from the 15 general practitioners on staff to about 20 – roughly 12 full-time equivalents.
Also working as a training centre for University of WA and Notre Dame medical students, the centre will have a pharmacy, pathology and meeting room for both staff and community purposes.
The Mead Medical group has been working towards the new Kalamunda centre for about seven years.
Practice doctor Warren Thyer said the new centre would see the closure of the smaller Mead Street site and work in conjunction with the Forrestfield centre, which would remain open.
He said it would also complement existing services in the area by other providers, including Kalamunda Hospital.
Expected to be completed by April 2012, it is hoped the centre will also ease the growing waiting lists for patients to see doctors, according to practice doctor Sean Stevens.
Medical centre staff and doctors met with Member for Kalamunda John Day MLA and site manager Alvin Harrison last Friday morning to celebrate the start of the works.
Mr Day said he was excited to see site works start after years of helping Mead Medical where he could.
“I think the community here will be very happy to see this development,” he said.
