HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT
This has not changed. For Kalamunda, just ring 92934455.
WHO WILL BE WORKING AT THE NEW CLINIC?
All of our current doctors will be making the move to the new premises on the 17th of December.
THERE WILL BE THREE NEW PERMANENT DOCTORS starting work with us in the new year.
Ewen McLean and Suzie Bicker are a husband and wife team that will be joining us from Scotland. Ewen will be starting in January and Suzie will start with us in the middle of February.
Erin Horsley is a GP anaesthetist. She will be joining us from Albany in January
Dr Jill Wyatt wil be with us for 12 months as part of her GP training.
Our new premises incorporates a purpose built ALLIED HEALTH AND SPECIALIST CENTRE. We are working hard to attract the best possible people to compliment our existing medical service. So far we have attracted the following:
• A cardiology (heart doctors) group, They will also be conducting cardiology investigations locally.
• Opthalmology (eye doctor)
• Orthopaedics (bone doctor)
• Physiotherapist
• Exercise physiologist
• Dietician
• Audiologist
• Orthotic specialist
WHAT WILL CHANGE?
You are still going to get wonderful health care. In fact your health care will be improved with state of the art facilities that we think are the best in Perth! There is a large purpose built treatment area, three dedicated procedural rooms for minor procedures, a specialist and allied health centre AND more doctors – which means MORE appointments.
However, there are some changes:
- You will need to register with the reception on arrival. Once registered, you will receive a billing slip that you will need to hand to your doctor.
- You will then be directed to wait outside the doctors’ rooms.
- Once seen you will be given the billing slip to take to reception
Seeing the nurse will also change. You will need to first register with reception and then move on through to the separate treatment room waiting area.
PARKING AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT
There will be plenty of parking on site (click here for new location map and parking).
For those of you who use public transport, bus route 296 from the Mead Street bus terminus runs along Railway Road through Gooseberry Hill, High Wycombe, Guildford and Belmont to the city. We are lobbying hard for a short diversion from Railway Road via William Street – which is the street closer to the Kalamunda hospital.
I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS
If you have any concerns on the day of appointment, please ask one of our receptionists, they will be more than happy to help you with the process.
Alternatively we can be contacted on 92934455 or via email admin@meadmedical.com.au
After years of planning and unavoidable building delays, the time has almost come for us to move in to the new building.
At this stage the move is scheduled to occur in December. We will send you an information sheet regarding this in the next month.
We are very excited about the move and look forward to seeing you all at the new building.
We have been very fortunate to recruit two wonderful Doctors from Scotland. Ewen and Suzie Bickner are a husband and wife team that will be joining our team in January 2013. We are very excited at the prospect of welcoming 2 enthusiastic and young Doctors to our well established team.
In addition we will continue to support the training of general practitioners. IN 2013 we will have 3 new registrars joining us.
So with an extra 90 appointments a day being available, we hope that we will be able to better service the requirements of our ever expanding patient base.
The skin clinic is very excited to announce that they will have a designated room in the new premises. This means that we will have a specialized room for skin checks and procedures.
We have purchased the most up to date equipment for skin checks and will be able to offer digital imaging to those that need or request it.

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU GOT CHECKED?
Each year we review our fees on November 1st.
This coincides with the release of the new Medicare rebate by the Federal government. Unfortunately, the Medicare rebate for most services that we provide is below the rate of inflation and does not come close to matching the every increasing costs associated with running a practice.
We continue to strive towards limiting our fee increases, while continuing to provide the highest possible level of medical care. Please find attached a copy of her new fees:
Fees from 1st November 2012.
- Level B Private would increase by $2.00 to $70.00
With the new Medicare rebate of $36.30 this will increase the Gap by $1.30 to $33.70 - Pensioner and Health Care Card holders Gap will remain at $20.00 3. Level C, D and the After Hours rate – a $2.00 increase will also be added.
The actual gap will depend on the Medicare rebate which is still unavailable. - Services such as ECG, Spirometer:
Which were usually charged at the rebate amount will now have a gap of $10.00 for all patients. For example a private fee of Level B (23) $70.00 plus an ECG will have a total gap of $43.70 - Procedural fees will remain the same:
Minor Procedures Major Procedures Facility Fee $50.00 Gap $95.00 Gap $35.00 - Scripts and Referrals will remain the same
We are trying to get bus services re routed to go past our new surgery.
