Dennis-Carragher Dr Denis Carragher – MB BCh, BAO

Denis has been working in the hills area for over 15 years. Denis has a passion for procedures. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of skin cancer, he is a founder of the Kalamunda Skin Clinic. Denis continues to have a list at Swan Districts hospital were he undertakes minor surgical procedures, including vasectomy, removal of lumps and bumps, minor gynecological procedures and complex skin cancer removals.

Greg-Caddy Dr Greg Caddy – MB BS (WA) Dip Obst

Dr Greg Caddy is a very well respected member of our team, having come across to Mead from his solo practice in Lesmurdie in 2006. He continues to be actively involved in obstetric care and is a founder of the Hills Obstetric Group. In between deliveries, Greg continues to practice all aspect of general practice. He is still actively involved in the palliative care roster and continues to be the all round General Practitioner of days gone by.

Rod-Thelander Dr Rod Thelander – MB BS (Qld), DCH, DRACOG.

Rod is one of our procedural doctors. He continues to undertake Anesthetics, minor surgery, Palliative care and of course General Practice. He is actively involved in silver chain and does a lot of the hospital work for the practice.In between all of this, Rod still finds time to give enormous amounts of time to the Somalil and project. Please see our in the news page for more details about this awesome project.

Warren-Thyer Dr Warren Thyer – MB BS (WA), Dip Obst RACOG, FRACGP.

Warren is the traditional country general practitioner, who just happens to be working in the urban setting. He is very capable in all aspects of procedural general practice. He has stopped obstetric work in the last few years, but continues to be involved in anesthetics and undertakes many minor procedures. His skills were recognized in 2006 when he was awarded the honor of General Practitioner of the year.

Ewan-McLean Dr Ewen McLean MBChB (Edin), BSc (Hons), DRCOG, MRCGP, FRACGP

Ewen graduated from The University of Edinburgh Medical School in 2000 with MBChB, and an additional 1st Class Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology (top in his year). He continued his training in Perth at Princess Margaret Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital, then returned to Scotland where he was a principal in his own GP practice for seven years. Ewen gained membership of the Royal College of GPs with Distinction, and has extensive experience in mentoring and training General Practice Registrars. Ewen returned to Australia in 2013 with his wife and 2 young children to join Mead Medical, where he enjoys all aspects of family medicine; particularly chronic disease management including diabetes, heart disease, respiratory disease as well as travel medicine, men’s health and skin checks. He enjoys all aspects of outdoor life, especially mountain biking, running, and snow boarding.

Suzie-Bicker Dr Suzanne Bicker MB ChB (Edin) MRCGP FRACGP

Dr Suzanne Bicker joined the practice in early 2013. She is excited to be returning to Australia with her husband Ewen and 2 young children, having worked alongside Ewen in Perth hospitals from 2001-3. Suzanne had been working as a GP in Scotland 2005-2013 dealing with all aspects of family GP, particularly women’s health, mental health and complex medical problems. She is also trained to insert contraceptive devices.

As a graduate of UWA, Lee Lee has trained in all areas of medicine in tertiary hospitals such as Sir Charles Gardiner, Princess Margaret and King Edward Memorial Hospital. She thrives in all aspects of medicine, however finds great pleasure in bringing patient’s skin to life. In constant pursuit of clinical excellence, learning never stops for Lee Lee. She has recently come back from the Non-Surgical Australasian Society Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Conference in Melbourne , and also attended the Perth 2016 Australasian Cosmetic Dermatology Conference. She is currently involved with broadening the research and knowledge of Near Infrared Radiation, and its effects on skin and cancer.

  Dr Julia Lockett MBBS (UWA)

Julia graduated from Medicine at UWA in 2008 and, after working at Royal Perth Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital, finally found her calling in General Practice when she joined Mead Medical in 2014. 

Julia enjoys working in all aspects of family medicine and having grown up in the hills feels privileged to care for and continually learn from the local community. 

Away from work she is happiest when with her children and on her bike.

Dr Melissa Marlow MBBS, BSc, FRACGP

Melissa arrived from the UK in 2009 with her husband to enjoy a working adventure in York WA.

A few years later; she is the mother of 2 young children and thrilled to be living and working in the beautiful Perth Hills.

She enjoys all aspects of family medicine, with an interest in mental health and palliative medicine.

Dr James Read commenced with Mead in January 2017 having emigrated to Perth from Hove, on the south coast of the UK, with his wife and three children. James has a special interest in respiratory medicine and a strong background in general practice, having previously been a principal at a general practice in the UK. James has previous experience in Australia, having worked in Sunshine Hospital in Melbourne and loves being outdoors with interests in a wide range of sports. 

Dr Ann Lewis MBBS, BSc, DRANZCOG(Adv), MPHTM, FRACGP

Ann joined Mead Medical in 2014. She has worked in rural medicine for most of her working life, having spent the last 10 years as a GP obstetrician in the Wheatbelt. She completed her basic medical training in the UK and moved to Australia in 1991.

She has particular interests in obstetrics and antenatal care, providing public services through Western Diagnostics at Osborne Park Hospital and private services through Mercy Hospital.

Dr Rebecca Hunt-Davies, MBBS (UWA), DCH, FRACGP

Rebecca has worked at Mead Medical since 2009 whilst taking time out for completing training and gaining extra experience. Rebecca graduated from University of Western Australia in 2006, completing her GP training in 2012 and has a special interest in children’s and women’s health. Rebecca completed her Diploma of Child Health in 2009 and did 6 months at King Edward Memorial hospital gaining valuable knowledge in relation to antenatal care and general gynaecology. In recent months Rebecca has gained greater experience in managing Type 2 diabetes, chronic heart failure and geriatric medicine. Rebecca has an interest in all aspects of General practice and is passionate about quality patient care. Rebecca lives locally enjoying the sense of community experienced in both Forrestfield and Kalamunda. Outside of work Rebecca loves spending time with her husband and two children.

 
Dr Leena Uppal MD, FRACGP, MRCGP, DCH

Dr Leena Uppal is an ‘all-rounder’ GP. She is interested in and fascinated by- all aspects of family medicine and has a special interest in Skin Cancer Medicine. She is always looking for ways to improve her knowledge and your patient experience. She has been practicing as a Family Doctor in Perth since 2011 but moved up to the Perth Hills in January 2018 and has been with the Mead Medical Group since July 2018. Prior to moving up to the Perth Hills Leena Uppal has worked both south and north of the river in Perth.

She began practicing medicine in England in 2002 after completing her basic medical training. After completing her post graduate medical training in various different specialties including General Medicine and Surgery and Emergency Medicine and Psychiatry and Paediatrics, including gaining a Diploma in Child Health, she became a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2008. In 2009 and 2010 Leena undertook training in Facial Aesthetic  Procedures in London.  In 2010 Dr Uppal and her husband relocated briefly to Cyprus where she worked a s a civilian GP working for the UK Ministry of Defense helping to look after the families and enlisted men and women of the UK Army and Air Force.  Leena and her family moved to Perth WA in 2011 and have made the hills their home recently.

When not working Leena Uppal enjoys exploring the Perth Hills and looking after their horses and goats as well as the exciting, emerging food and arts scene in Perth.

Dr Celia Worth BSc, BCom, MBBS, DRANZCOG

Celia is a mother of 2 young children who is currently completing her qualifications as a GP obstetrician. She completed her medical degree at the University if Queensland in 2008. Prior to deciding to pursue medicine, she obtained a Bachelor Degree in Science and Commerce also at the University of Queensland.

After finishing medical school, she discovered her interest in women’s health and went on to complete five years of speciality training in obstetrics and gynaecology. In 2017, she made the decision to follow her husband back to his home town in Perth and refocus her priorities to work life balance and being a mother.

Since that time, she has been working as a career medical officer in obstetrics and gynaecology at Joondalup Hospital, a GP obstetrician at Bentley Hospital, a GP obstetrician at the founding One for Women practice in Midland and more recently a GP obstetrician at Western Obstetrics in Midland/Osborne Park. In addition to this, she is working towards completing the general practitioner speciality component across two sites under the Mead Medical banner.

Celia is passionate about every aspect of women’s health and providing women with equitable access to all available resources, information and health care providers. Her current aspirations include having another child, providing care to women with a holistic approach at all stages of their life and locuming in remote areas of Western Australia to bridge the gap in health care provision for women.

Dr Anna Dillon MBBS, DRANZCOG Adv, DCH, BHSc (Physiotherapy)

Anna initially qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2002 and worked in NZ, the UK and Australia before deciding to study medicine at Notre Dame in Fremantle. She graduated in 2012 and worked at Fremantle Hospital. While doing a GP term in Carnarvon she discovered her passion for general practice and women’s health and she has subsequently undertaken 2 years of women’s health training and is part of the Mead team who provided obstetric care at Bentley Hospital. Anna now delivers through Western Obstetrics at Osborne Park Hospital. Anna is passionate about all aspects of general practice with a particular interest in women’s health, sexual health, paediatrics, sports medicine and preventative health. Anna has successfully completed her RACGP fellowship exams and is due to complete her fellowship in coming months.

Outside of work, Anna and her partner are kept busy with all the joys and challenges of parenting thier two gorgeous young boys. She also enjoys running and mountain biking and exploring WA.

Dr Rebecca Smailes

Dr Smailes was born and raised in Perth. In 2008 she moved to Melbourne and then completed her studies in medicine and surgery at Monash University in 2012. She then moved back to Perth to complete further training at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, SJOG Midland Hospital, Joondalup Health Campus, Osborne Park Hospital and Hollywood Private Hospital. In 2019 Dr Smailes finished her specialty training to attain fellowship with Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Dr Smailes’ particular areas of interest are women’s health (especially young women’s health and implanon insertion and removal), cardiology, chronic disease and diabetes management. Dr Smailes believes laughter is the best medicine and is known for her friendly consultation style.

Outside of doctoring, Dr Smailes enjoys hiking, taking her dog practically everywhere and spending time with friends and family.

Dr Samuel Ognenis MBBS, MPH

Sam was born and raised in Perth. He completed his Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Western Australia in 2015, as well as a Master of Public Health at the University of New South Wales. Prior to training Sam has worked at a number of hospitals including Fiona Stanley Hospital, Rockingham General Hospital, Fremantle Hospital and Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital. He has undertaken palliative care placement and subsequently obtained the Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine in 2019.

Dr Monica Rosca MBBS, FRACGP

After graduating in Romania, Dr Rosca moved to Australia in 2008 where she worked at Sir Charles Gairdner and Swan District Hospitals. She trained locally as a General Practitioner and practiced rurally in Moora, Northam and Bindoon. She is a mother and lives locally with her family.

Dr Sophie Norman studied Medicine at the University of Western Australia graduating in 2016. Since graduating, Sophie has spent time working at a number of hospitals in Perth including Fiona Stanley Hospital, Rockingham Hospital and Perth Childrens Hospital. She has decided to pursue a career in general practice after gaining experience in a broad variety of specialties. Sophie enjoys caring for people of all ages with interests in women and childrens health and geriatric medicine.
