Iron Infusions
Mead Medical offers iron infusion services for patients with iron deficiency where oral iron supplementation has been ineffective or is not tolerated.
Prior to an iron infusion, patients are required to have a GP appointment to confirm iron deficiency through appropriate blood tests and determine suitability for treatment. If an iron infusion is recommended, your GP will provide a prescription for the iron, which must be collected from a pharmacy and brought with you to your infusion appointment.
Iron infusions are administered by a trained nurse in a monitored clinical setting. The appointment takes approximately 30 minutes, during which you will be closely observed to ensure your safety and comfort throughout the procedure.
For clinical safety, a GP must be onsite during all iron infusion appointments. For this reason, we encourage patients to book their infusion on a day when their usual GP is available at the practice.
Fees for this service are explained on our Fee page.
Our reception team is happy to assist with bookings, preparation information, and any questions regarding iron infusion appointments.
