Dr James Read

Dr James Read is an experienced General Practitioner who joined Mead Medical in January 2017 after relocating to Perth from Hove, on the south coast of the United Kingdom, with his wife and three children. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), a Bachelor of Science with Honours (BSc Hons), Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP), the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG), and Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP).

Before emigrating to Australia, Dr Read was a principal GP in the UK, gaining substantial experience in family medicine, chronic disease management, acute presentations, and community healthcare leadership. Earlier in his career, he also worked in Australia at Sunshine Hospital in Melbourne, giving him valuable insight into both UK and Australian health systems.

Dr Read has a special interest in respiratory medicine, including the diagnosis and management of asthma, COPD, chronic cough, and other respiratory conditions. He enjoys the full breadth of general practice and is known for his thoughtful, methodical approach and his commitment to evidence-based, patient-centred care.
