Skin Checks

Mead Medical offers comprehensive skin cancer checks performed by experienced General Practitioners, using a thorough and evidence-based approach to skin health.

Skin checks involve a full or targeted examination of the skin to assess moles, spots, and lesions for any signs of skin cancer, including melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. Early detection is critical, and regular skin checks are particularly important for individuals with a personal or family history of skin cancer, high sun exposure, fair skin, or changing lesions.

Where required, doctors may recommend monitoring, biopsy, or removal of suspicious lesions, with clear explanations provided at each step. Patients are supported through diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care, all within the practice.

Appointments for skin checks can be booked with GPs offering this service – please note that as this is a specialised area of training, not all of our GPs offer comprehensive skin checks.

During your appointment you will be asked to remove your clothing down you your underwear and a modesty sheet will be provided. The doctor will exam your skin over your whole body to identify if there are any areas of concern.

A chaperone is not routinely offered but if you would feel more comfortable with a chaperone, please speak to our reception team so that this can be booked in advance.

Our team is happy to assist with bookings and any questions regarding preparation, procedures, or fees.
