Greg graduated from the University of WA in 1982. After 3 hospital training years including terms at Princess Margaret and King Edward Memorial Hospitals, he moved to general practice in Kalgoorlie for 10 years. He delivered approximately 100 babies per year over this time and developed an interest in obstetrics and care of the newborn. On his return to Perth he did further obstetric studies at KEMH and sat the Diploma of Obstetrics examination in Melbourne.
